Hardcore is dead..... Is something you hear thrown around from time to time which is still pretty mind boggling and for any newer kids this isn't a new phrase that just started getting thrown around I have been hearing it since I first started going to shows in the mid/late 90's. I feel like the correct thing to say for those people who feel that way is "My heart has died for hardcore" or maybe they just need to look up the definition of the word "dead " because when something dies it is no more and if hardcore was no more I wouldn't be writing this,The guys who made this wouldn't have made it and the awesome newer bands would be playing another style of music.
Thanks to dudes like Jake,Ricky,Buske and others for putting me on to new music and for the older bands I grew up listening to that gave me a place to call home.
Much respect for putting this together Ryan

The way I see it is that when someone says "Hardcore is dead"...it basically means "Hardcore died when I stopped going to shows". I'd say a lot of peoples favorite eras of hardcore are the ones they went to shows and were most involved in which makes sense, but in reality hardcore isn't dead by any means as long as there's people supporting it.

Hardcore isn't dead, just a ton of young kids trend hopping jock riders that ruin it for people these days. At least people are going out to shows and there are a few bands that cut through all the B.S thats out there these days.

pretty much agree with everything said here. hardcore "dies" because people aren't into it anymore. right now there are so many awesome bands out that there's no way it can be dead. people just stop giving a shit and no longer care and make stupid comments.

to some extent - i get it. i connect most with the music i got into from ages 16 - 21. to me, those are the classics. i'll always view those as the glory years, even if i know that's total bullshit.
but what everyone said here is spot on. if you're involved in hardcore, there's always something to be excited about. there are always new bands, new venues, and new kids (who keep the scene alive). it's all just a matter of perspective.
people who say "hardcore is dead" just aren't involved anymore, and are too self-centered to realize that a world exists outside of their current lives.

I never thought hardcore was dead but I definitely didn't keep up with it as much until I listened to the BnB Takeover almost two yrs ago and started hearing these newer bands and realizing that the scene was just as strong.

I completely agree. I am 25 and have struggled to stay interested at times, but as long as I find at least a couple current bands I genuinely like, hardcore will never "die" for me. I'm not really a fan of the "punch the person next to you in the face" mentality that is sometimes at shows, but there are still plenty of bands doing something new, creating a community, welcoming all, and embodying the idea of hardcore that I love and will always love.

With fests like BnB, This Is Hardcore, United Blood, Sink With Cali, Sound & Fury, East Coast Tsunami, I don't see how people say it's dead. A lot of the newer bands aren't doing anything ground breaking musically but you can still find some cool shit.
